Adventure with the Lion Trek 150watt Portable Power Unit

Lion Energy is an innovator in renewable energy for your whole house and on the go. They are constantly revolutionizing the way people can stay powered no matter what happens in life.

When I first saw the Lion Trek, I got genuinely excited. I have a lot of solar power banks and even smaller portable external battery packs that can fit in your pocket. But this really stood out to me because it’s such a high amount of energy, in such a small package.

The Lion Trek has up to 150watts of output.

It weighs just 2.1lbs, so while maybe ultra backpackers wouldn’t be taking this on their next exploration, I wouldn’t see why this couldn’t tag along on just about any other adventure.

Total size is 5.47 x 1.57 x 8.54 inches. For the amount of energy this puts out, it really is one of the smallest power banks I’ve seen!

It offers 1, 12V AC outlet, 2, USB-A outlets and 1, USB-C outlet. It also has a specific solar panel input. You can charge via a wall outlet and solar panel.

It takes about 1 hour and 55 mins to charge on a wall outlet and 3 hours and 30 mins with direct solar using a 50watt solar panel.

I decided to test it out by charging my laptop in the 12V port, my watch in one USB port and AirPods in another USB port.

It took exactly 1 hour for the battery to go from 100% to 12%. I love when I can watch the display to see how much wattage is being used and what percentage of battery is left, in addition to how many hours are left to charge the plugged-in devices. I felt like the time left was a bit off while the laptop was still plugged in. It was pulling around 50watts consistently while the laptop was plugged in and at 15%, it said there was still 40 minutes of charge left, which didn’t really math out right in my head.

However, once I unplugged the laptop, it dropped from 50watts to about 1 watt, which was just charging my watch and AirPods.

I decided to plug into a solar panel to charge it back up. After just 10 minutes, it had charged up 2%. I had to take it off the solar panel because it looked like rain clouds were rolling in, but I was pleased and confident it would have successfully charged back up within the 3 hours, even if it was only pulling in about 17watts of sun energy.

It has a LiFePO4 battery which means it can be re-charged well over 2,000 times.

There’s no assembly! Ready to use right out of the box; just press the power button, plug in and you’re good to go.

Big things really do come in small packages. At MSRP $229, the Lion Trek 150watt portable solar generator is an amazingly powerful piece of gear whether you’re at home or out in nature, you can easily keep your devices powered.
