What’s old is new! Ford’s Eluminator Mach E electric crate motor show breathes new life into this custom 1978 F-100 pickup concept.

It’s alive — it’s aliiiiiiveWell, it’s electric anyway. Ford treated assembled media and auto-industry professionals attending the SEMA show in Las Vegas this week to a resurrected blast from the past when it unveiled a “zero-tailpipe-emissions” 1978 F-100 pickup truck.

The visage of this iconic pickup harkens to the gilded age of workhorse American trucks. But under the F-100’s hood hummed the latest in automotive innovation and technology. Dubbed the “Eluminator,” this one-off F-100 showcases Ford Performance Parts’ first e-crate motor: the M-9000 Mach E.

“Ford owners have personalized, customized, and enhanced their vehicles since the beginning — from changing looks to bringing the power,” said Eric Cin, Ford’s global director of vehicle personalization, accessories, and licensing.

“Our F-100 Eluminator concept is a preview of how we’re supporting customers as they go all-electric and embrace zero-tailpipe emissions performance, even for our heritage vehicles.”

Two electric traction motors provide 480 horsepower and 634 pound-feet of torque in the all-wheel-drive Eluminator F-100. Designed and created by Ford Performance, in collaboration with MLe Racecars, the concept truck sits on a custom chassis by the Roadster Shop.

JJR Fabrication finished the dash in billet aluminum. The seats sport avocado-tanned leather upholstery by MDM Upholstery. Forgeline brings 19×10-inch billet aluminum three-piece wheels, wrapped in Michelin’s Latitude Sport 275/45-19 high-performance tires.

Finishing off the look is an Avalanche Gray paint hob with Cerakote Copper accents — applied by Brand X Customs.

While the Eluminator F-100 is strictly a concept build, the Eluminator Mach E electric motor is available for purchase for $3,900. With it, owners can customize a vehicle with the motor from the 2021 Mustang Mach E GT.
