An American Classic, The Ruger 10/22

In this article, we are going to take a look at an iconic American Rifle, the Ruger 10/22.

It’s hard to imagine a more iconic rifle than the Ruger 10/22. First introduced in 1964, more than 7 million units have been produced cementing its place in the gun culture of the United States and beyond. Chambered in .22 long rifle, the Ruger 10/22 has been a companion for first time shooters and backwoods varmint hunters for decades. It’s semi-auto design and customizability have kept it top of mind for many, many buyers every year since it’s inception.

The 10/22 currently comes in 8 different configurations from the factory, giving buyers plenty of options when it comes to the look and finish of their rifle.  One of the more revolutionary designs brought to market by Ruger was the takedown. First introduced back in 2012, the Takedown allows users to disassemble their rifle at the breach and pack their rifle away in a backpack or small case for travel or hiking. With multiple configurations and options, it’s no surprise that so many 10/22’s have found their way into gun owners safes.

Manufacturers have also introduced a staggering amount of aftermarket accessories for the Ruger 10/22. Companies like Magpul have introduced lightweight polymer stocks that will allow you to add weather resistance and weight reduction to the mix. Many companies all make drop in triggers that will enhance the shooters experience. You can even secure a binary trigger from Franklin Armory to spice up your range trips. No matter the upgrade, a quick search will yield many options for you.

Sure, there are many rimfire rifles on the market, but few are as popular and reliable as the 10/22. This rifle was even been used as a less lethal riot control option by the Israeli military.

If you already have a 10/22, you know how much fun they are to shoot. If you don’t have one of these, it may be time to start shopping!
